Preserving the Active Hip

This very practical one-and-a-half-day course takes a very modern look at the structure of the hip including the crucial roles gait mechanics and muscle coordination play in maintaining normal function. Additionally, this course examines many of the traumatic and degenerative causes of anterior hip pain, demonstrates recently developed clinical tests and highlights a progressive evidence-based conservative rehabilitation program over a 20 year period by David Lindsay and medical colleagues at the University of Calgary Sport Medicine Centre (Canada). Complimetary myofascial manual therapy techniques specific to the hip will also be shown.

Clinical Success - An Ethical Approach to a Rewarding Career

In this educational and highly entertaining 1-day seminar simply titled “Clinical Success”, Geoff Cuskellyand Dave Lindsay will explore the true value patients seek when coming to physio. You will understand the power of simple things like attitude and communication – which will not only make your patients happier; it’ll make you a much better clinician than you thought possible.

There will be some really interesting research presented including comparing the effectiveness of your clinical skills versus the way you communicate and your attitude towards your work in achieving positive patient outcomes. The results might surprise you!

Scoliosis and Pilates Workshop

This dynamic one-day seminar is a mix of theory and practical sessions on the use of Pilates in the management of Scoliosis. This course is open to all licensed physiotherapists and all certified Pilates instructors from a recognized school of Pilates.

 Over the course of the day you will review the history of Scoliosis, its incidence and development and how it is now one of the most prevalent issues facing Physiotherapists and Pilates teachers alike. The difference between congenital and idiopathic scoliosis will be discussed, along with the mix between C-curve and S-curve deformities of the spine and their differing challenges. Following this, you will be guided through the APPI’s step by step program of how to deliver a successful in clinic scoliosis session, small group classes as well as a specific home exercise program.

 The course is led by Dr. Misty Rose Austin PPDPT, MPhty, BKin, APPI America Presenter. You will receive a Pilates & Scoliosis Certification from the APPI.
